Okay. First and foremost. Do. Not. Panic.
Yes, this is the last Saltcast, BUT….
The Saltcast will soon become HowSound. Nearly everything else will remain the same. Great radio stories. The backstory on audio storytelling. Same host. Even the same theme music! Just the name is going to change.
You’ll have to do one thing: subscribe to HowSound. We’re not quite ready to have you do that, but soon, we’ll post links here and we’ll even send out an audio reminder through the Saltcast feed.
As a bit of background, for the last three years, Saltcast was produced by PRX in conjunction with the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. I taught radio at Salt but, after eleven years, I left the school this spring. PRX and I decided to keep producing the podcast under the new name, HowSound.
One other quick note: I haven’t stopped teaching. This fall I’ll be running a seven-week course with the crew at Transom.org — The Transom Story Workshop. The deadline for registration is July 25th. Wanna learn to produce radio on Cape Cod? Of course you do.
Thanks a ton for listening to the Saltcast over the years. And, I very much hope you’ll continue to listen when we morph into HowSound in the next couple of weeks. The first edition will feature a story about two grave-digging buddies. (See? Now you’ll have to subscribe to HowSound!)
Best,
Rob
